04/02/12: 'CITY OF HULL' CONFIRMED FOR THE 2012 STEAM SECTION.

We are delighted to be able to announce that we have added Fowler Road Locomotive 'City Of Hull' (Link), to our list of Confirmed Engines (Link) for the 2012 event at South Cerney. 

02/02/12: OLD TIME PEDAL POWER ALSO FEATURES IN 2012.

Forget about cursing the lycra clad man that delays your trip to work every morning as you try to pass him on todays busy roads, because here at South Cerney we have a selection of Vintage Cycles (Link) that will make you look at the humble bicycle in a whole new light.

30/01/12: BIG PLANS FOR THE 2012 AIRCRAFT SECTION.

27/01/12: 'JOE CHAMBERLAIN' RETURNS TO THE 2012 EVENT.

Following last years triumphant debut at South Cerney, we are please to be able to confirm that Burrell No. 3166, will once again be joining us in 2012 (Link)

25/01/12: VINTAGE SPECIALIST EXHIBITS.

No we were not sure at first either, but all is explained on the sections page (Link) which we have just added to this very Steam Extravaganza website.

23/01/12: " WE'RE ALL GOING ON A SUMMER HOLIDAY "

No don't worry, we haven't booked Cliff Richard for the Beer Tent! We have howvever added to this very website a new page that features a bit of information on our Vintage Caravan and Camper Van section at South Cerney (Link). You'll be in 'awe'ning of the display come August.

21/01/12: FIVE ENGINES - FIVE MAKERS

We are pleased to be able to announce the addition of no less than five Traction Engines to the 2012 line up (Link). Whats more, they are from five different engine builders. Does anyone spot a theme developing?

18/01/12: TAKE A TRIP INTO OUR 'TARDIS TENT'

Never mind our tag line 'Step Into A World Of Colour', you can now 'Step Into A World Of Miniatures'. Yes thats right visit our Model Tent and behold its Tardis like qualities. Something for just about everyone (Link)

16/01/12: EMERGENCY VEHICLES SET TO LIGHT UP EVENT.

What a terrible pun that was..... Regardless of your editors sence of humour, 2012 will see for the first time a specific section dedicated to Emergency Vehicles. To celebrate the fact we have a dedicated website page as well (Link)

14/01/12: DANCING TRACTORS & SO MUCH MORE.

Highly regarded amongst enthusiasts is our Vintage Tractor section here at the Steam Extravaganza. 2012 promises to be a bumper year with the section continuing to grow and attract those diverse and different exhibits and displays. Find out more on our Tractor page (Link).

13/01/12: THREE MORE STEAM ROLLERS CONFIRMED FOR 2012

Entries into the steam section have started to pour in this past week, but as we have done previously details are going to be drip fed to you via our Confirmed Steam page (Link) on a weekely basis (usually Saturdays), with further details being made available via our blog (Link).  

10/01/12: TICKET PRICES FROZEN.

The Committee are pleased to be able to announce that the cost of admission into the 2012 event at South Cerney will stay at 2011 prices. In addition the cost of tickets bought online will be further reduced. For more details look no further than out Ticket Sales page (Link)

09/01/12: TIMBER TRACTOR SECTION IS SET TO BE BIGGEST YET.

2012 will see a good selection of Timber Tractors decend upon the Steam Extravaganza following last years introduction of the section to the event. Set within the Steam Section and Timber Arena, the display is being put together by Robert Bullen and Matt S, who between them aim to create a fascinating, skillful and no doubt a humerous demonstration of these fine machines. 08/01/12: CLASSIC PLANT SECTION RESURFACES

Back in the early days of Kemble, the steam section used to include several examples of Classic Plant and Concstruction Vehicles. With a bit more room at South Cerney, this display is going to be reinstated again for 2012. If any owners of Classic Plant, tools or equipment would like to get involved then further details can be located on our new Classic Plant page (Link).

06/01/12: ENGINE NUMBER TWO CONFIRMED FOR 2012

We are a long way off of our target of trying to get over 100 Full Size engines onto the South Cerney Showground in August, but we are getting things rolling with the second on our confirmed engines, Aveling & Porter No. 14002 (Link).

29/12/11: TRACTION ENGINES GALORE AT THE 2012 EXTRAVAGANZA

Plans are well advanced now for a special display of Traction Engines to be featured at the 2012 event at South Cerney. Although full details of the display are being kept under wraps at the moment it is expected several rarely seen examples will be on display for the first time in this region. More details will be posted as time moves forward so make sure you keep your eyes on the News Page (Link) and Traction Engine Page (Link) here at Steam Extravaganza.com.

28/12/11: NEW YEARS DAY STEAM UP AND ROAD RUN

In what has become something of a family tradition in recent years, our Steam Steward Matt S will be taking his families 1921 Fowler Steam Roller (Link) out and about on New Years Day in the town of Stonehouse here in Gloucestershire. Although unconfirmed at present it is rumoured several other local engines will also be joining them. As is the norm, several other vintage vehicles may also be out and about in the High Street from Mid Day onwards, so why not pop along and soak up some atmospheric sights and sounds and welcome 2012 in with style.

27/12/11: INDUSTRIAL TRUCK DISPLAY SET TO GROW FURTHER IN 2012.

Having established a new record for the number of Industrial/Autotrucks gathered at one single event in 2012, plans are already under way to create an even bigger and diverse display for 2012. Keep updated via our new Industrial Truck page (Link) on this very website.

26/12/11: FAIRGROUND TRANSPORT SECTION EXPANDED.

With the success of the debut of the the Fairground Transport (Link) section at the 2011 event, we are pleased to announce that the experiment will continue! So if you own or know of any vehicles or Living Vans that you feel would enhance the dispaly further, please do make contact (Link).

24/12/11: MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM ALL AT THE STEAM EXTRAVAGANZA.

Well its finally here! Christmas has landed so I (Matt S - Steam Section/Website) would like to take this opportunity to wish all the visitors to this website, all the exhibitors and traders at the show and of course everying who visits the event itself a great couple of festive days!

23/12/11: COMMERCIAL VEHICLES SET TO BE BIGGEST DISPLAY YET.

The Commercial Vehicle Section at the 2012 event is already shaping up to be the biggest in the shows history. Equiries are pouring in from new and old exhibitors alike, some of who are planning some pretty epic journeys to attend the show in August. 18/12/11: FIRST ENGINE CONFIRMED FOR 2012.

We are delighted to confirm that the first of many full size steam engines has been confirmed to attend the event in August 2012. Aveling & Porter Roller No. 8974 (Link) , will be making the long trip from Surrey to join what is set to be one hell of a party!

04/12/11: DORMANS STEAM IN ONCE AGAIN

We are delighted to be able to welcome back once again to South Cerney the Dorman Brothers Vintage Fun Fair in 2012. This is one of the biggest traditional travelling fairgrounds in the UK, who will be joined by several other vintage rides (Gallopers, Arcade and Big Wheel) as part of our ever popular Vintage Fairground section (Link).

02/12/11: CLASSIC & VETERAN CARS

The updates to this website have slowed in the last few weeks, but I am pleased to say that with any luck they will now pick up again in pace, with several due to be added in the coming days - stearting with the 'Vintage & Classic Car' section (Link).

27/11/11: GOODWILL FESTIVAL

Nothing to do with the event in August granted, but there was some steam represented at a local Goodwill Evening recently (Link) with the attendance of the Shipton Family Fowler Roller. As ever lots of interest shown, and directions on how to find this website issued....so as a result, if your a first time visitor here; welcome aboard.

21/11/11: EVEN MORE CONTENT

As well as running the Steam Extravaganza website, the South Cerney Steam Steward Matt S also runs a website dedictaed to his families 1921 Fowler Steam Roller. It follows the exact same format and style as the Steam Extravaganza version and when viewed together offers a huge variety of content for you our visitor to wade through. Updates are almost daily and you can find out all the latest additions by visiting the Updates Page (Link) at the Hole Load Of Trouble site.

20/11/11: ITS ALL A LITTLE 'HIT & MISS'.

Please excuse the pun, but it was fully intended. As the content on this website contiues to be added we'll keep you posted here in the news section - which means todays news is the introduction of the Stationary Engine page (Link) to proceedings. Knowing nothing about them, I just hope I have done it then some kind of justice!

19/11/11: WE ARE A CHARITY EVENT.

Just in case you are wondering, the Gloucestershire Steam Extravaganza is very much an event run in aid of Charity. While we do not make a huge profit year on year we do donate to good causes who also use the show as a vehicle for their own fundraising activities. 17/11/11: ANYONE FOR ANOTHER RECORD?

Some people may well think that to break one record is a great achievement...not so our Bus & Coach section organiser John Hitchins who is attempting to break his own record of the number of Bedford OB Buses gathered in place. Yes John nand his team set the bar high at our previous venue of Kemble, but with roots now laid down at our new home - the gauntlet has been laid down and various challenges issued. Well something like that anyway.....

12/11/11: THAT TALKY BLOKE IS BACK!

We are delighted to be able to announce that our steam commentator John Reeves will once again be imparting his wealth of knowledge within the Steam Section (Link) and associated Arenas at the 2012 show. John has been involved with the steam fraternity for more years than we care to mention (rumour has it longer than the combined ages of Rachel & Matt - Steam section leaders!), so his familiarity with all the exhibits and crew members is second to none.
