Considered by many of our visitors to be the heart of the show, the steam section once again in 2008 will be a hive of activity for all.

Taking full advantage of the 'closed' runway, we set the area aside and basically openly encourage movement and activity behind the fence line. This creates a spectacular display which is almost continuous throughout the entire event.

The only time the movement is reduced is for the Grand Parades of steam which take place twice a day.

As well as the 'Demonstration Area' there is a more subtle pace to be found in the 'Display Area' where the public can amble around the engines and get a up close look at these magnificent machines from a time confined to the history books.

As engine owners themselves, section leaders Matt & Rachel Shipton feel it important to help educate and spark the steam bug in people to take a bigger interest in the entire steam movement, thus ensuring its future in generations to come. To assist in this there will be various displays from organizations at the event including the National Traction Engine Trust, Road Roller Association and Sentinel Drivers Club.

Sentinel Steam Waggons form our special theme for 2008 and at the time of writing there are already 15 such engines booked to appear at the event. There will also be several special events involving these vehicles.

It is anticipated that in excess of 50 full size engines will be onsite over the course of the weekend not only taking advantage of the 'Demonstration Arena' but also our extensive 'Working Arena' as well.

This comprises of Threshing Drums, Saw Benches and various other equipment (See 'Working Arena' for further details).

A special display will take place of 'Road Making Equipment' out side the Road Roller Association Marquee as well.

Other activities in and around the steam section include 'Speakers Corner', where you can ask questions on engines to the owners and crew. The 'Portable Paddock' also returns this year which displays Portable Steam Engines (very early and basic form of steam engines).

There is always things to see at every turn within the steam section. You'll marvel at the engines at work and play and with the show set to be the biggest yet, you would be foolish to miss out on this unique experience.
