A engine not seen in this region of the UK other than at the Gloucestershire Steam Extravaganza. It made its debut appearance at the event in 2009 and caused so much of a stir, the owner insisted it returned ! We hope to diplay this engine in the Timber Arena, where it will be seen and heard hard at work.

Spider was new to a Mr J Philpott but was sold in 1912 to a company called Wingham Engineering. The engine spent most of its working life thrashing and general haulage duties in and around the Kent & Sussex areas. It was saved from the scrap merchants in the 1960's and entered preservation. It spent some time as part of the engine collection at Bressingham Museum (Link). Now in the ownership of the Evans Family it has recently undergone a repaint as well a few mechanical repairs including the fitting of new gears.

Originally supplied to John White of Rettendon in Essex. In May 1946 the engine moved to the Keeling also of Essex, where she was lucky to escape the scrap merchants. The engine has been through a succesion of owners in its preservation days and is now a regular attraction at many events. In 2009 the engine celebrated its 100th Birthday. I think you'll agree for an old girl, 'Keeling' is not a bad looker at all.

Built in 1915 by Burrell's of Thetford this engine has been rebuilt by the present owner over a period of 13 years. Now a regular visitor to the Gloucestershire Steam & Vintage Extravaganza.

FOSTER : Traction Engine : No. 14622 : Built 1931 : Reg. FW 1917 : 'Sir William' (No Link)
'Sir William' was one of the last single cylinder engines built by Wm.Foster & Co. of Lincoln. This engine was exhibited at the Royal Show (Link) which was held in Manchester in 1931. It was then delivered to Wm. Boodle , threshing contractors based in Lincoln. In more recent times it has undergone an extensive rebuild and we are delighted to welcome the engine to the Gloucertershire Steam Extravaganza for the first time.

FOWLER : Traction Engine : No. 11699 : Built 1909 : Reg. AB 9028 : 'Pride Of Hanley Castle' (Link)

Supplied new to Tilt Bros of Hanley Swan who were agriculural contractors. Purchaed in 1948 at their disposal sale by Nevile Meluish, remaining in his ownership until 1999. Passed on to the Preston Family who regularly rally this fine example of Fowler workmanship. Whilst at the event, take the opportunity to get up close and examine the orgiginal paintwork.

GARRETT : Traction Engine : No. 28410 : Built 1910 : Reg. NO 1186 : 'Mercury' (Link)

'Mercury' was manufactured in 1910 by Richard Garrett & Sons Ltd and celebrates it's 100th Birthday this year. In it's Centenary year 'Mercury' is hoping to make 1010 a bumper one by attending as many steam rallies as possible to mark this major milestone!
When owned by Mr A Deans of Baldock it spent all its working life threshing in the Hertfordshire area. Now having been owned by by Peter Best for a quarter of a century Peter is the longest owner since new!

New to J. Thompson Of Gilcrux in Cumbria, where the engine spent its entire working life. Restored by current owners to a very high standard.

ROBEY : Traction Engine: No. 29333 : Built 1910 : Reg. AD 9899 : 'Wally' (Link)

Spent all it's working life in Gloucestershire. First with Mr Wright at Brockey nr Morton In The Marsh then Jame Blackwell at Northleach where it worked intil 1947/8 on thrashing duties. The engine then stood derelict in a gravel pit at Fairford. The engine was purchased by present owner in 1969 and fully restored.

WALLIS & STEEVENS : No. 2959 : Built 1907 : Reg. HR 5110 : 'Little Lauren' (Link)

Weighing in at an impressive 12 Ton, this product of the Hampshire firm of Wallis & Steevens is a imposing piece of kit. Kept in fine order by its current owners 'Little Lauren' has become a regular attendee at this event.
